For more conservative investors, the Healthcare REIT market can offer relative safety and stability. During the height of the credit crisis, many REITs traded down by as much as 60% or more, yet most Healthcare REITs saw losses of only 10-15% and maintained their dividends. If you want real estate exposure but also like to sleep at night, then a Healthcare REIT is definitely worth considering.
